JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Pro golfer Ken Green’s brother and girlfriend were killed in a recreational vehicle accident in which Green also was hurt.
Green was driving on Interstate 20 near Hickory, Miss., on Monday when the right front tire of his RV blew out. Green was unable to control the vehicle and ran off the road and down an embankment before hitting a large oak tree.

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) -Two holes, two towering shots, two clutch birdies. Just like that, Tiger Woods broke out of a four-way tie and won the Memorial on Sunday with a 7-under 65 to cap off a high-charged comeback. And just as suddenly, he silenced the skeptics who wondered if he was ready to defend his title in the U.S. Open in two weeks at Bethpage Black.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Admission to this year’s 3M Championship? Priceless.
Oh, and there’s no charge for the parking, either.
The Champions Tour will offer free admission for the first time at the 3M Championship next month in Minnesota, a plan announced Thursday by director Hollis Cavner in appreciation of the strong support fans and sponsors have shown the event since it started in 1993 as the Burnet Senior Classic.
The Arnold Palmer-designed Tournament Players Club Twin Cities course, located in the northern Minneapolis suburb of Blaine, is now the annual site of the tournament, held this year from July 10-12.

There’s only one tee box at the Elfego Baca Shootout, and it’s perched 2,550 feet above the hole and nearly three miles away.
After a kidney-busting trek aboard 4-wheel drive vehicles to the top of Socorro Peak, golfers have been hacking and whacking every year since 1960 at New Mexico Tech’s extraordinary single-day event.
“I guess it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing to go to the top of a mountain and play your way down,” said Miguel Griego, defending champion of the Socorro Open. “You’re never going to get another chance to hit your first shot 1,000 yards

Phil Mickelson plans to return to competition on the PGA TOUR next week, sources close to the world’s No. 2 golfer have confirmed.
His return may be brief as his wife Amy weighs treatment options after being diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks ago. But Mickelson has decided to play in next week’s St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn., as well as the U.S. Open the following week.
Mickelson, who was the defending champion at last week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, had suspended his schedule indefinitely after learning of his wife’s diagnosis.
But he said in a statement on his Web site last week that doctors think the cancer was caught early, and more tests are scheduled. Originally, Mickelson had said that surgery was scheduled within two weeks but that has now been delayed.
How his wife’s treatment progresses will certainly dictate how much Mickelson plays this summer — and whether he will be in the field at Turnberry for the British Open, the season’s third major championship, in July.
