A BOOK REVIEW
By Roy Love

If you liked American Graffiti, Hoosiers or Stand By Me, you’re sure to like Flatbellies.

It’s about teenagers growing up in a small town in Oklahoma.

Kyle “Chipper” DeHart is the main character supported by his close friends  “Peachy Waterman, L.K. Taylor and Jody Justice.

Other characters weave in and out of the story.  People like the mysterious Indian known as Crazy Joe, Kyle’s nemesis T. Dugan,  Mr.Ashcroft the mentor and Sarge, the potbellied tobacco-chewing protagonist who refers to the young golf team as Flatbellies.

Then there's Jay’s reaction to his father’s untimely death. This will pull at your heartstrings.  L.K.’s near tragic hunt for golf balls.  Kyle’s caddie, “Booger” Yarkey and his wild police chase as he returned to the course with “Peach's secret weapon.  And there's the last ceremony as they scaled the local water tower before their season ending golf match.

Author Hollingsworth say’s, it’s not a book about golf,  it’s a book about life.

You know he’s right.
