Paul Hackett also 90 was born on July 22, 1911 in Batavia New York
Paul has been playing golf for the last 34 years.  He worked on his dad’s farm in Batavia. He later retired from General Motors in Rochester, moving to Florida in 1994.
“Why do I like golf?"  "Competition, healthy, camaraderie, having something to look forward to".
The “Kid,” Russ Stokes who just turned 90, was born in Warwick, Rhode Island on April 19, 1912.
He came to Florida in 1982, after retiring as Vice
President of Canteen of Virginia an industrial food
and vending company.  He has been playing golf for
over
40 years.  Suffering from Macular Degeneration
he
has been legally blind for several years, but he still continues to play. “They have to line me up and tell me where to hit the ball,” Russ said, “but I still enjoy the game.”  He claims he can’t see, but there are others who challenge this statement. Especially when he wins closest to the pin, “ Its hell to get beat by a blind man” one of his fellow golfers was heard to say.
“Why do I like golf?”  "Friendship is number one."
I live alone and don’t get to see people very much."
"Also exercise,  just being able to hit the ball,
something to look forward to".

They all agreed that the key answer was  “S
OMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO"
As one said, “When
you get to be our age that’s important, that’s what keeps us going.”
