IRVING, Texas — Jason Day knows all about being a young, up-and-coming golf star. So he didn’t mind one bit sharing the spotlight of his first PGA Tour victory with 16-year-old Jordan Spieth.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — In a wacky week at The Players Championship, where a rowdy spectator was subdued by a Taser and the world’s No. 1 player withdrew with a neck injury with 12 holes left, perennial runner-up
Tim Clark finally broke through for his first
PGA Tour win.
In his 206th start on Tour, the scrappy, 5-7 South African came up big on the Tour’s biggest stage with a bogey-free 67, the lowest score on a sun-splashed Sunday when wind, firm conditions and lightning greens at the Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass conspired to send scores soaring to an average of 74.18. Davis Love III was the only other player to break 70.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This was a good day for golf. A very good day.
It doesn’t get much better than a guy who can’t rent a car nor buy a drink in the United States shooting a course-record 62 alongside a graybeard of 24 to win his first PGA Tour event.
Or a teenager halfway around the world shooting 58 for that matter.
Rory McIlory has long been destined for greatness, a kid mature beyond his years already well-schooled in the rigors of the professional game.
At 20, he has played in six major championships, and Sunday he became the youngest player since Tiger Woods in 1996 to win on the PGA Tour with a stunning victory at the Quail Hollow Championship.

LUTZ, Fla. – Bernhard Langer won for the 10th time on the Champions Tour when the final round of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am was called off due to constant rain. Langer won by default after a birdie on the final hole during the second round on Saturday gave him a one-stroke lead over Mark O’Meara and Mike Reid. Because no player completed their third round, the final result was based on the second-round leaderboard. The leaders did manage to get on the course Sunday, and Langer made par on the first hole at TPC Tampa Bay while O’Meara chipped in for birdie to force a tie at 9 under. It ultimately didn’t matter when persistent rain washed out the rest of the tournament. “We don’t know what the outcome might have been if we had been able to play 54 holes,” said Langer, who spent most of the 3-hour rain delay playing card games with his family. “Bottom line, it’s another second for (O’Meara) and I feel bad for him that he has not won yet, because he’s definitely played well enough to do so.”

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Brian Davis couldn’t deny what he saw and knew he was honor-bound to tell the world. HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Brian Davis couldn’t deny what he saw and knew he was honor-bound to tell the world. Davis ticked a loose reed during his backswing on the first playoff hole of the Verizon Heritage, calling a two-stroke penalty on himself that gave Jim Furyk a victory on Sunday. “It’s just awkward to see it happen at such a key moment in the golf tournament,” Furyk said. “Awkward for him to lose that way, and a little awkward for me to win.”Davis ticked a loose reed during his backswing on the first playoff hole of the Verizon Heritage, calling a two-stroke penalty on himself that gave Jim Furyk a victory on Sunday. “It’s just awkward to see it happen at such a key moment in the golf tournament,” Furyk said. “Awkward for him to lose that way, and a little awkward for me to win.”
